The inaugural CircuitWest JBL Professional & Adamson Techwest 2-day annual conference kicked off this month at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre.
The event covered many aspects of challenges for technical teams, as well as new thinking, skills and equipment. Teams from across the vast state of WA including the CMI Audio Solutions Team came together, to network and listen to experts discuss matters relevant to the industry.
A major presentation by Brian Vayler from the CMI Audio Solutions Team was the Adamson CS series demonstration including the CS7, CS7p, CS119 Subwoofers and CS10p plus AVB MILAN, and the Adamson Array Optimisation with the use of the Control Suite software.
Also presented was a full demonstration and listening evaluation of the BRX300, the latest powered modular line array system from JBL Professional. The general feedback on the BRX300 was that the sound fidelity and ease of setup was well beyond expectations for a lightweight, high-output portable line array system.
Also at CMI’s stand was the Fohhn Media Scale 2 a compact, passive and universally usable loudspeaker system with woofer, tweeter and Fohhn Sub Extension attached to the screen by the Media Scale VESA Bracket and powered by MA4.100 DAN Amplifier.
Other CMI Audio Solution products on display, was the Optocore FESTIVAL BOX GRANDE, X6R and the M12 point to point system converter devices and Tascam’s BD-MP1 Blue Ray player and 2-Channel Mic/Line Input/Output Dante Converter with built-in DSP Mixer.
So how did CircuitWest’s JBL Professional & Adamson Techwest Annual Conference come about?
Leading up to the event, CircuitWest signed a 3-year partnership with CMI Music & Audio for naming rights for what is now called, JBL Professional & Adamson Techwest.
TechWest is WA’s peak network of performing arts and theatre technicians that culminates in this 2-day annual conference.
According to CircuitWest Executive Director Ryan Taaffe the two organisations have had a relationship for some time, and it had sought CMI Music and Audio for Techwest due to its leadership in the sound marketplace.
“CircuitWest knows the industry has considerable respect for CMI Music and Audio because of its expertise and experience across diverse venues. Often technical sound specialists focus on the live music industry, and whilst this is important, it is often quite different from performing arts.”
“On behalf of the board, I want to thank CMI Music and Audio for this great commitment to performing arts, as we look forward the working together on a new and existing JBL Professional & Adamson Techwest.”
The partnership involves a range of benefits to the industry, including professional development and ongoing support.
According to Corey Sleeman, National Manager of the Audio Solutions Division at CMI Music and Audio they were keen to support the performing arts industry with support on products and brands across diverse markets.
“We represent a range of carefully chosen products and brands across diverse markets including the CE retail market, MI retail stores and education markets plus professional audio users such as AV rental companies, houses of worship, performance theatres, commercial spaces and transport,” he said.
“CMI Music and Audio are keen to see JBL Professional & Adamson Techwest become a flagship event for the technical industry in performing arts that will ensure they are better educated, supported and connected going forward.”
“We are delighted to commence this 3-year partnership with CircuitWest to work together on an event that really makes a difference in the industry.”
